Patricia Shelton

I am a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, having earned my Diploma in Nutritional Therapy in London, England at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.  I am currently living in Zurich, Switzerland after moving here in July of 2015.

The most important piece of my learning that I carry forward, and hope to pass along to others, is that from the fundamental biochemical make up, we are all individual.  While much of each of us is extremely similar, there are slight differences in the codes that direct all the bodily functions within us, and we need to listen to our own signals and understand better our own make-up to be able to give ourselves the gift of the best nutrition and lifestyle to benefit our individual bodies.  What is the perfect food for one body, may indeed be the opposite for another.  We need to gain a better understanding of ourselves so we are not following headlines of the health trends that are of benefit to some people in hopes that we will benefit us as well.  Finding answers to our individual body needs and being able to make informed choices about what we eat, drink, and how we live, enables us to move forward out of the worries of nutrition, and onto the other challenges of our lives that we hope to pursue.

More about me:

I grew up in New York City, where I attended The Chapin School, then furthered my studies earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Psychology at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. I lived and worked in New York and Connecticut for the next 15 years, as an economic analyst, a compensation consultant, an HR generalist, and finally a stay-at-home mother.

My interest in Nutrition has developed over time.  I have always been interested in 'being more healthy', as many of us are, and I would adjust my habits along with the latest headlines, as new information continued to emerge.  But there were two factors that increased my drive to study nutrition more deeply.  My husband was diagnosed with Coeliac disease over 15 years ago, and then as my son began to develop as a toddler, his behavioral issues had me asking a lot of questions.  These two areas sent me to a lot of books and articles that kept leading back to nutrition, until I decided that I needed to learn about nutrition in the human body from the very foundation.

I studied Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine while living in London, England.  I am now living in Zurich, Switzerland, after relocating here in 2015.  Based in Switzerland, I am now working with clients both in Zurich and globally; happy to do both in person consultations, and (because of the wonders of technology) consultations over FaceTime and Skype, as suits each individual best.
